The Series and My Goal:
The Ultimate Graphic Novels Collection (aka The Official Marvel Graphic Novel Collection) was a fortnightly part-work magazine published by Marvel and Hachette in the United Kingdom, Russia, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Argentina, Brazil, PerĂº, France and Germany.* The series collected a wide range of stories from the Marvel Universe into quality hardbound books. Each volume focussed on one story arc, with an introduction by the editor that enabled readers to get up to speed on what had transpired prior to the new arc beginning.
It was originally advertised as being compete in 60 volumes. The series proved so popular, however, that the publishers, seemingly overcome with corporate greed, issued a further 60 books, bringing the total to 120. My goal is to post a review for each of the original 60 volumes. I've no interest in the subsequent 60 volumes. EDIT: the number has increased again, to 150.
-When lined up in order on a shelf the spines create a landscape painting of a small number of the heroes in action. It's the best quality image I can find. Artist: Gabrielle Dell'Otto.-
Please Note: I'm NOT affiliated with Marvel or Hachette in any way. I paid full price for each book and if I feel that a particular story is shit then I'll say so without reservation. I'm not aiming to help a greedy publisher (or publishers) get more exposure. My primary goal is to record my thoughts on each volume before I'm forced to donate, sell or pack them into storage due to space issues. If my ramblings are of some use or interest to other comic book readers, that's a cool bonus.
